In this renovation of an 18th century town house in the medieval village of Najac, Architect Aquilino Torrao combined traditional materials and lovingly restored features with striking contemporary architecture. combined traditional materials and lovingly restored features with striking contemporary architecture.
Atelier Schroeter worked closely with the architect to produce many elements of the refurbished interior and several bespoke light pieces.

Atelier Schroeter contructed a new staircase to link the ground floor to the newly renovated cellar. The stairwell and steps are lined with birch plywood and we devised a means of securing the panels without visible fixings. The result is a clean, grid like structure with minimalist lines and striking contrast.
